Our Mascot: the Golden Eagles

McGraw LogoMcGraw's school mascot is the Golden Eagle. During McGraw's inaugural school year, in 1992, a mascot selection contest was held. Each classroom chose one  mascot for the final vote. Mark Shoemaker, a 1st Grader, suggested the Golden Eagles because golden eagles and McGraw students soar above. In the final vote Golden Eagles won by a landslide.

When McGraw was first built, golden eagles were frequently seen in the skies above the open fields and natural areas which surrounded the school. Golden eagles can still be seen from time to time flying above school grounds, even though today our resident pair of redtail hawks are a more common sight.

Our official mascot representative, Goldie, often appears at school assemblies, parades and other special events. Like Goldie and her wild cousins, McGraw IB students continue to "soar above" as life-long learners who thrive in and positively shape our local and global communities.
