McGraw's "Stack Attack!" team competed at the Odyssey of the Mind (OM) World Finals, held May 25 - 28 at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. The team placed 16th out of 39 teams representing various countries and US states in the Division 1 structure-building problem. Students on Division 1 teams range in age from 9 - 11 years old. Teams were ranked based on an 8-minute "long-term" performance and their skill in solving a spontaneous problem.
Several McGraw 4th and 5th Grade students recently competed at the Poudre School District Elementary Track and Field Meet. We are proud of they represented McGraw. See their individual and team results below:
5th Grade Students:
Exciting happenings are springing up in the McGraw Nature Center! Classes are putting the idea of stewardship into action by trimming, weeding, planting, picking up trash, taking photos and making observations in the nature center and front garden beds. Teachers have found authentic ways to use our nature center as an outdoor classroom to inspire student learning across the curriculum.
Seven teams from McGraw participated in the regional Odyssey of the Mind (OM) tournament that took place at Boltz Middle School on Saturday, March 5. We are proud of how well the students on the teams performed and how they represented our school through their actions.
McGraw recently participated in the annual Pennies for Patients campaign. During Pennies for Patients, students collected spare change from family, neighbors and friends to support blood cancer research. We smashed our school goal of $2016 collected by raising over $2,254.00! The following grade levels collected the most money for Pennies for Patients:
1st place – 5th
2nd place – 3rd
3rd place - 4th
Thanks to everyone who contributed for their generosity, and for supporting the search for a cure for blood cancer.
McGraw's McGlee Club choir was one of three highlighted elementary school choirs that performed at the Poudre School District Honor Choir concert on February 24. It was a treat to hear McGlee Club practicing all year and then see how everything came together in an amazing performance. Congratulations to Jaden Ly, Rebekah Parke, Maya Stanley, and Lauren Sampson who represented McGraw in the all-district honor choir which included 2-4 students from every elementary school. Nice job choir members and a big thank you to Miss Harrison for giving of her time and talents!
