About Me
What I like about teaching is...:

creating an environment in which students actively discover and learn to apply creative processes.

What I like about my school is...:

the energy the students, parent/guardians, and staff share. This quality allows for an active and motivated environment.

Learning extends beyond the Colorado State Standards. Expectations are high and allow for differentiation.

Prior knowledge is honored and incorporated into lessons.

My expertise as an Art Specialist is equally seen as an integral part an IB Primary Years Program.

Hobbies and interests include...:

art, Bikram Yoga, music, and being active.

I love the fact that I am a very visual and tactile person. Because of this, learning specific skills and having general life experiences seem so much more meaningful.

My favorite book is...:

"Fab Five: Basketball, Trash Talk, the American Dream",
by Mitch Albom

I also love graphic novels, books that are written and illustrated by children, and design magazines.

Something most people do not know about me is...:

I hiked the Colorado Trail. Of course, this was a very long time ago!

My favorite quote is...:

One of many:

"Technical skills can be learned by almost anyone who has the determination to pursue it, but innovative ideas and the ability to express them come from some place beyond the material world." --Carole Ann Borges

While I love how this addresses determination, innovation, and technical skills, I would include that all people have this potential.

"Express yourself and the paint will express you too."
