Welcome back to the 2011-2012 school year!  We are looking forward to students returning on Monday, August 22nd.  We are excited to welcome all our new families and look forward to catching up with our returning ones.   We hope to use our new website as our major communication tool this year, so please take some time to navigate through the current information to become familiar with the new layout.

The staff is eagerly preparing for the return of our students! Our focus this year will be on enhancing our IB practices and the integration of technology.  We look forward to educating our new parents about our program of inquiry and IB philosophy over the course of the year.

Please look for your Back-to-School letter which will be mailed to your home the first week of August.  You can also find a copy of the letter here.  I look forward to seeing you all again and please know that if you ever have any questions, concerns, or ideas, my door is ALWAYS open.

See you soon!

History & Learning Culture

McGraw Elementary, an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, opened in 1992, and is named in honor of Beryl "Brownie" McGraw, long-time PSD educator.

McGraw offers the IB Primary Years Program in grades K-5.  IB promotes the development of international-mindedness and the education of the whole child---academic, emotional, social, physical, personal, and cultural.

McGraw's learning environment is inquiry-based, engaging students in the construction of understanding through their questions, research and reflections.  Building on state standards, teachers create units that highlight the transdisciplinary nature of learning.  McGraw houses the district deaf and hard of hearing program.  Teachers are highly trained in differentiation of instruction, use of inquiry, Positive Behavior Support and Response to Intervention.
